Ingredients for Gulab Jamun:
- 1 cup khoya (mawa or evaporated milk solids)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons ghee or clarified butter
- Oil for deep-frying
Ingredients for Sugar Syrup:
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2-3 green cardamom pods
- 1/2 teaspoon rose water (optional)
Instructions for Gulab Jamun:
- In a mixing bowl, add the khoya, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix everything well and knead into a smooth and soft dough.

2. Divide the dough into small balls of equal size.

3. Heat oil in a deep pan for deep-frying on medium heat.

4. Gently drop the dough balls into the hot oil and deep-fry until golden brown.

5. Once the dough balls are golden brown and cooked through, remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Instructions for Sugar Syrup:
- In a separate pan, add the sugar and water and bring to a boil.

2. Add the green cardamom pods and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until the syrup reaches a single thread consistency.
3. If desired, add a few drops of rosewater to the syrup for added flavor.
4. Once the syrup is ready, add the fried dough balls to the syrup and let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
